This Salted Caramel Sauce is easy to make and compliments pancakes, sticky toffee pudding, ice-cream and turns a slice of banana loaf into a lovely dessert.

Ingredients
75g butter
115g soft brown sugar
40ml golden syrup
90ml double cream
salt to taste
Method
In a pot add and stir all the ingredients together over a low heat, until the sugar has dissolved.
Simmer, stirring continuously for 5 minutes.
Serve the sauce warm, sprinkling the salt onto each individual portion you are serving the sauce with or mix the salt into your sauce if you prefer.
Tips
By keeping the salt separate to the sauce, you can offer your guests the choice of Caramel Sauce or Salted Caramel Sauce. This recipe makes a thin pouring sauce if served warm from the pot. If cooled and refrigerated for a few hours or overnight the sauce thicken to a thick set honey consistency.
