I topped some with white chocolate chips and cranberries, some with mixed seeds and others with just chocolate. Simple summertime food. Equal quantities of hummus and Greek yogurt mixed together and placed on the base of your plate. Top half the hummus with salad, lots of chopped parsley and the other half the plate with your chosen protein, I fried steaks. Dip and enjoy with #bread or #pita Build mini bites of a single ingredient or load the works. It makes for a quick and easy dinner. Sausages elevated not to @_jasonatherton level on @saturday.kitchen today but a fun dinner in the garden. I learnt to boil sausage in white wine from my daughter’s Spanish friend, thanks Marta. Today I boiled them in stock Jason Atherton style, it’s a great way to get a juicy result. I love learning new techniques. Thanks to everyone on @saturdaykitchen and @jadonatherton. We had half the table eating ‘normal hot dogs’ loaded with the works. One plate with gluten free sourdough bread and my sad plate with chicken sausage, quark instead of mayo for creaminess (the joys of trying to bring my cholesterol down)! I made soya Sloppy Joe’s, to turn a sausage in a bun into a chilli dog and instead of chips, I served make your own loaded nachos. I love sauces, they make a humble sandwich into a memorable meal. The base is a New York Horseradish Mustard Sauce fiery and addictive:
Ingredients
60g Dijon mustard
15g creamed horseradish
Method
Mix and enjoy.
The second was a New York Style Red Pepper Relish a quick to mix store cupboard relish:
Ingredients
2 roasted red peppers, finely chopped (jarred works well)
11/2 -6 teaspoons garlic cloves, coarsely chopped (you can use roasted garlic for a milder flavour)
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
salt and pepper to taste
Optional
a handful of finely chopped flat-leaf parsley
Method
Mix all the ingredients together and enjoy.
For a puree style sauce you can add all the ingredients (except the parsley if using) and pulse to a course texture. Mix in the optional parsley and enjoy. Both the sauces will add a lift to any sandwich. #bagels #sauces #dijonmustard #roastedpeppers #garlic #rocket
