Slam Dunk Present Opening Clean Up Idea

I am always the self-designated wrapping paper monitor, that person who can’t see the paper strewn across the floor. I know it screams Christmas or festivities to see ripped wrapping knee-high around each person, but for me I go into Health and Safety mode: it is a tripping hazard. I know I am a buzz kill!

This year, quite by accident, I discovered a wonderful way for each person to willingly wrap and clear. I wrap presents, pop them into bags with the person’s name on, and that makes the morning easier. When I wrapped the presents, I popped them into a printer box that we had in our office. I walked the gifts down in the box, and the box stayed in the corner of the room.

I unwrapped my gift and, having been a netball shooter in my youth, I rolled the wrapping and threw it into the box. Before I knew it, my whole family were unwrapping their presents, scrunching up the paper, and aiming it straight into the box, tidying up as they went. It was a fun way to clean up.

If you have younger children who still enjoy big birthday parties, this can be made into a fun game for the guests to play, while the birthday child opens their gifts.

Next year, I will definitely leave either a box or a very large Christmas bag in the room and let the stealth-mode clean-up begin.

Who knew a simple box could make tidying up wrapping paper fun for the family and effortless for you. So here’s to slam-dunking your way through any occasion that requires wrapping paper to be collected.
